About Us

Filing Compliance Limited is run by a team of highly skilled professionals who have been serving thousands of business owners nationwide for many years with the day to day business accountancy needs. More recently, due to the growing epidemic in late filings, we now offer specialist services in accounts that have been filed late. Late filing can have everlasting effects on your company’s credit file, which will in turn create obstacles in obtaining finance on behalf of the business, together with late filing penalties which are costing UK businesses millions of pounds.

Late filing penalties

Late filing penalties can also result in warnings being placed against your business on Companies House, affecting the reputation of the business, with some of our clients in the construction industry have had their supplier accounts and business bank accounts frozen as a result of late filings on Companies House. Accordingly, as a business owner, it is imperative you act without delay to avoid sanctions being placed on the business, which could be severely detrimental to the health and sustainability of the business.

Case Study

When a business files a tax return late for one day HMRC will issue a £100 penalty. Up to 3 Months another £100. Up to 6 Months HMRC will estimate the business tax and add a further penalty of 10% of the estimated tax, in addition to the £200 already accrued. 12 Months a further 10% in addition to the above. If a tax return is filed late 3 times in a row, the £100 penalties as listed above are increased to £500 each.

The estimated tax by HMRC is not appealable.

In some circumstances, the penalty can be appealed and/or waived. Our experts will advise you of this as and when that is the case. When dealing with a late filing penalty time is of the essence. The time you should act quickly was five minutes ago! The quicker action is taken to rectify the late filing and we liaise with HMRC on your behalf. The more likely we will get the best outcome for your business. Filing your company’s annual returns and accounts at Companies House is a legal requirement. If you fail to do so or file late a late submission of your accounts you could be subject to a range of penalties, including a fine and or even a prison sentence. In addition, failing to file could damage your company’s reputation and make it difficult to raise finance in the future. As a result, it is essential that you ensure that your company’s annual returns and accounts are filed on time. If you are unsure of how to do this, we are here to assist you with that at a reasonable cost. However, ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure that your company complies with the law and so the quicker you get in touch with us, the better the outcome will be. Filing accounts late at Companies House can have a number of consequences for your business. Firstly, you may be subject to late filing penalties, which can range from £100 to £1,500 depending on the size of your company. In addition, your company may be listed as being ‘in default’, which could damage its reputation and make it difficult to secure funding or new contracts. Additionally, the late filing of accounts may trigger an investigation by the HMRC. If your accounts are found to be inaccurate, you could face criminal charges and unlimited fines. As you can see, it’s essential to file your accounts on time to avoid any negative consequences for your business.

Loss of confidence

Late filing can also lead to loss of confidence from shareholders and creditors and your company can be struck off the Register. If your company is dissolved it will be removed from the register at Companies House. This can have serious consequences, as it will no longer exist as a legal entity. This means that any assets or property belonging to the company will be forfeit and owed to HMRC and any debts will become the responsibility of the directors. In addition, dissolving a company can damage the directors reputation and make it difficult to raise finance in the future. If a company is struck off the register, you can apply to have your company restored, but this can be a complex and time-consuming process. As such, it is always best to avoid dissolution. For this reason it is absolutely imperative to act fast if you have any late filing issues. As a director of a company, you are liable to ensure that the company’s accounts are filed with Companies House on a time. If you fail to do this, you could be held in breach of your duty as a director. This could lead to a fine or even imprisonment. The Company director or secretary need to ensure that they instruct professional accountants to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to comply with late filing obligations to avoid any personal liability. If you have any late filing requirements at all, it's completely free of charge to contact us immediately for a no-obligation quotation and decide thereafter. Don't delay something that can easily be sorted with the appropriate expertise and guidance.
